Paper spinners

Create colourful paper wind spinners, you can hang those into the windows or if made from laminated paper these can be laced in the garden to spin betweeen the crops to protect them from birds.

You will need:

  • paper plate (or just a white card if you wish to laminate it)
  • water based paint
  • paintbrushes, pencil
  • scissors
  • glue stick/PVA glue
  • string to hang
  • hole punch

1.Use the watercolours to paint your paperplate. Alternatively, if you wish to display outdoors, paint a white card, letting it dry completely before laminating it.

2.Cut the plate/card in a circular motion from the edge towards the middle. If creating this with young children, get the adult to cut this or draw the line using the pencil first on the other side.

The final product can be displayed by hanging in the window/doorway where drought will spin it around.
